WhatScottSees

WhatScottSees is an ongoing photography project and archive rooted in analog image-making.

The work is made primarily on film and spans images produced across Scotland and elsewhere, shaped by movement, travel, and attention to specific places, events, and encounters. Rather than following a single subject, the project develops through accumulation — photographs made at different times and under varying conditions, connected by a consistent way of seeing.

Alongside photography, the archive may include sound recordings, notes, and fragments gathered in the same moments as the images themselves. These materials sit together as traces of where the work was made and how it was experienced.

Collections within WhatScottSees are not fixed endpoints, but temporary groupings — a way of holding related work together while allowing the archive to remain open, unfinished, and subject to change over time.
